Storytelling in Words and Pictures
The D’ARTS teacher leads the students on an exploration of narrative in visual art. Students will be encouraged to identify character, plot, caricature, symbolism and more. Language arts vocabulary will be used in discussing the artworks, for example: protagonist, antagonist, and so on, as appropriate to the grade level.

The Perfect Pair: Language & Visual Arts
The D’ARTS teacher leads the students on an exploration of the links between visual and verbal artistic expression. Metaphor and narrative are forms used in both visual and verbal expression, as are symbolism, allegory, caricature, comedy, irony, satire, surrealism, and tragedy. Students will look for and discover elements of narrative in visual art.
