Camden Art Gardens
Camden Art Gardens projects are intended to enhance the livability of Camden neighborhoods through the creative investment of their residents. Each project is anchored by a neighborhood organization that conducts after-school and summer enrichment programs and coordinates participation by its area residents.
STARR Tile Mural at Dudley Grange Park

Under the direction of artist Zola Bryen, the youth made handmade block tiles, embellished with personal symbols and glazed in bright tropical colors. The wall at Dudley Grange Park is large, so the next phase of this project to take place in Summer 2007 will add additional clay tile designs to the mural. The tiles are slated to be installed in fall of 2007.
Blue Guardian Park at 2nd & Elm
Camden Art Gardens
Artist in Residence Marilyn Keating and 45 children from the Respond Inc. Summer Enrichment Camp, additionally an intergenerational group of twenty elders and their children and grandchildren at the Respond Elder Center on Linden Street, Camden.

Under the direction of artist Marilyn Keating, the children designed various artistic elements for the garden. In 2005, canvas Animal Guardian Sculptures were created and placed around the garden. In 2006, Tile Mosaic benches were created, and in 2007, six permanent animal guardians were added, along with two gateway sculptures.


Victory Temple Community Church

This project took place at Victory Temple Church (2nd & Pearl Streets) with their summer Camp (15 students)—a small garden with artistic elements was created at the site at with artist teacher Susan Greenbaum in 2004. The students participated in various visual arts workshops, including the creation of stained glass panels. In 2006, a large Stained Glass Panel was created and installed. The Terraced Block Planter was completed with plants, and the Meditation Path with the mosaic stepping stones created in 2004 were installed.
Cooper's Point Elementary School

Artist-teacher Dressler Smith will work with students at Cooper’s Poynt School. A series of workshops were held in which students designed and painted a mural.
